College Faculty and Students at More than 1,900 Universities Using FlatWorld Digital Textbooks
Publisher reports strong growth in fall semester adoption; announces recipient of 2020 FlatWorld Textbook Scholarship
BOSTON, October 29, 2020—FlatWorld, a digital-first publisher of award-winning college textbooks that are both affordable and high quality, today announced that faculty and students at more than 1,900 institutions across North America will use FlatWorld’s digital textbooks during the fall semester. The company is also unveiling the winner of the 2020 FlatWorld Textbook Scholarship Program, which awards free textbooks to a professor’s class for the entire academic year. Over the course of the 2020–2021 academic year, more than 1,000 textbooks will be donated to Dr. Robert Robinson’s class and the chemistry department at Collin College.
“As the world’s legacy college textbook publishers continue to report weak or declining results quarter after quarter, FlatWorld’s industry-leading growth rate continues to accelerate. We have experienced a strong double-digit increase in revenues to date this year,” said Alastair Adam, Co-CEO of FlatWorld. “Professors are keenly aware that they are teaching students amid a recession sparked by a historic pandemic. As a result, faculty members are selecting their learning materials based on affordability, quality, and ease-of-use in both digital and physical learning environments. When comparing textbooks based on these three criteria, FlatWorld is the clear choice.”
FlatWorld’s catalog currently features over 145 textbooks across more than 20 academic subjects, with titles costing between $24.95 and $39.95 for digital access. FlatWorld passed the 1.5 million registered user mark during the current academic term, with college students from all 50 states learning from the publisher’s digital or print textbooks. Thousands of students around the country are also completing assignments with FlatWorld Homework, the publisher’s intuitive online homework platform for desktop and mobile devices that is included for no extra charge with the purchase of a new FlatWorld textbook.
Added Adam, “As we continue to grow at industry-leading rates, we remain firmly committed to ensuring that FlatWorld’s textbooks continue to achieve the highest standards of quality and affordability. With these goals in mind, we will expand the FlatWorld Textbook Scholarship Program to help make high-quality textbooks more readily accessible to students from every background.”
Collin College is the recipient of the 2020 FlatWorld Textbook Scholarship.
